The Eagles’ London Reset

Philadelphia travels after another loss; Jacksonville returns from a narrow win.

Updated October 7, 2026 · Eagles at Jaguars

The Week 4 evidence

The Eagles fell 24–20 to the Rams in Week 4 after an earlier Monday night defeat in Chicago. Jacksonville edged Cincinnati 22–17. Those results put the teams on different emotional footing before a London kickoff, but the travel and early start challenge both sides.

The Week 5 question

The Eagles’ most useful response would be steadier offensive possessions and fewer self-inflicted stops. Jacksonville has to show that its Week 4 finish travels with it into a different routine. The neutral setting makes preparation visible: substitutions, early-down decisions and the ability to settle after an unproductive series will matter.

The adjustment behind the result

Philadelphia's 24–20 loss to the Rams followed a separate Monday night defeat in Chicago. Two losses in a row invite a broad verdict, but the better question is what changes between possessions. Does the offense recover after a stalled series, or does it leave the defense facing repeated short rests? A practical correction would show up in manageable third downs and fewer drives derailed before midfield, even if the opening series is imperfect.

Jacksonville's 22–17 win over Cincinnati offers a different test. The Jaguars have a recent close-game finish to draw from, but that result alone does not tell us how they will handle a neutral-site kickoff. The London trip affects both clubs' routine. We should look for how quickly each settles its communication, substitutions and pace once the game starts, rather than assuming the travel favors one side.

There are two separate stories here: Philadelphia's response to consecutive defeats and Jacksonville's ability to build on a narrow win. An early lead could obscure either issue. The more useful evidence may arrive after the first unsuccessful drive or a sudden change in field position, when preparation has to become an in-game adjustment.

What to watch

A single possession will not define either season. Still, the first half can reveal whether Philadelphia has made practical adjustments and whether Jacksonville can establish its own tempo without depending on the previous week’s script.

PFH perspective: this is a test of composure and preparation across an Atlantic trip, not a verdict on either roster.
